New Years

This year we have no plans for New Years.
Everyone is either busy , doing their own thing or on holidays.

2012 was a big year
            • 2 good friends weddings
            • Darwin for work
            • Hawaii for Mum's 50th Birthday
            • Our wedding!
            • Fiji for our Honeymoon
            • Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road

So here is the obligatory post about my goals for 2013.
As far as I am concerned 2013 is a clean slate.
There are no holidays planned and definitely no wedding to plan.
I haven't even booked any holidays at work, which means I may not have any this year.

There are things to do though:
        • Work Conference in March where I am presenting a paper
        • 2 friends weddings
        • I was hoping to do some sort of short course/s in cooking and baking. I was also possibly thinking that I may do an Auslan course. Just out of interest.
        • BUY SOME PROPERTY!
        • Minor things include: New hairstyle and colour.
I hope the start of 2013 is everything that you have hoped for.
Also that you are spending it with people that you love.

Red or purple?

I said in my previous post that I need a change.
Some people cut their hair right after their wedding.
I have been growing it for the wedding and now it is quite long.
Insert another wedding photo ;D
The hair is curled and past my shoulders. Straight it is obviously longer
M is quite partial to long haired gals. He whines whenever I mention cutting it off.
In this summer heat it is very often.
He also likes my natural colour.
However I have to do something!
So I am thinking of putting in a rinse or something.
I have been red before.
Something for a slight change will be good.

My mission this week is to look for a rinse that will tide me over until I can think of what I want to do.
So, red or purple? ( subtle purple)

Let me know

First week back

This week was our first week back at work.
Both of us have been feeling the early mornings and actually having to do things like work.

People talk about having a sadness when all the wedding and honeymoon excitement has gone.
I think I have a little of that.

My direction for next year is not really clear.
M and I are aiming to buy a home but really that is one thing

I have thought about studying something. It could either be work related or
something nothing to do with it at all.

I have recently wanted to study sign language. I don't come across having to work with deaf people very often but when I have patients who are deaf or have family who are also deaf I find it very fascinating.

Other possibilities could also be doing short cooking classes to fill up my time.
I usually have something in the pipeline to look forward to.
Obviously for this year it was the wedding and honeymoon.
The year before we went to New Zealand.
A couple of years before that we went to Europe.
Travelling probably won't happen unless it was for work or for a wedding in October.

I also have an urge to cut my hair. At the moment it is at the bottom of my shoulder blades.
I don't want to cut it really short as I don't have the face shape to do it but maybe something different with my fringe or possibly some highlights. . .

I am going to go to bed as this week has caught up with me and I just want to curl up and sleep.

Pro Pics

They arrived!
Our discs with our photos are now in our hot little hands.
Overall I am very happy with them.
All credit goes to Dan Au Photography

I thought I would recap the day in pictures.

I woke up really early (6:30) for the 3rd morning in a row.
I was greeted by bridesmaid T who was dutifully asleep on our sofa bed.
By 8 L, my maid of honour and Christine, M's sister had also arrived along with our hair and make up team.

Our flower girls arrived at 12 as they didn't require a lot of work and it kind of kept them out of our hair until they were needed. They were really well behaved. Having only met each other twice before, they promptly promised to be best friends until 4pm.

My blue shoes. I was kind of concerned about what M's reaction to this colour would be. I absolutely loved them . I had to walk away from Manoloh's in Hawaii for a cool 900 plus tax so these at 80 were a fair substitute and probably the most comfortable heels I have ever worn!

M did not notice my shoes until we got back into the car after the ceremony. He LOVED them! He basically shouted that I had blue shoes! He keeps remarking how much he loved them. Winner!

My Maggie Sottero Zabrina dress
This was also one of the most comfortable dresses to wear. It was sometimes a hassle to try and not step on it and also white dresses attract every colour under the sun. I think at one point my roses rubbed colour onto it. Such is life. I think it was perfect. I love the silhouette!
More of the blue shoes

I gave M some Happy Socks and a wallet which is he was in desperate need of.

Darling Rose Classics. 3x Mark 5 Jaguars including the convertible... it rained so that didn't get used.
Then it was time to go. We thought we had plenty of time. Let's have some more pictures we said. Uh
I was the perfect bride though. I think I was 5 minutes late.

My home made unity candle.
Yup. I'm Katie, he is Matthew.

We were brave soldiers. Running in the rain along the beach. Bonus was there was no one else around

My cheeky cake topper. Our photographer made us recreate it

The night went so quick. We did have a few hiccups. My grandfather tripped over in the courtyard on the way to the photo booth. He hit his head, broke his wrist and cracked some ribs. My grandmother got so stressed about it that she ended up in hospital too. Now the silly duffers are apologising about missing the rest of the reception. This all happened between dinner and dessert so things got postponed for a little bit. The show did go on though once they were off to the hospital. About 10 family members came up to me one after the other to make sure I was OK because I got a little bit upset about it all.

Any who. Back to the good stuff I will leave you with a photo of our first dance. We had dance lessons. 5 of them. Learning the waltz and sort of choreographing some moves so we didn't look like idiots. The only factor that we didn't really properly account for was the trickiness of my dress. After the first lot of spins I half tripped on my dress so I basically got Matt and I to stick to basic waltzes and sways. It was a bit of a shame that we couldn't have done it properly but I would have ended up on the floor.
We did the dip at the end.
I pull funny faces when I dance.

Melbourne

Part 2 of our honeymoon is over.
M and I have had an amazing time.

I am enjoying married life so far. The whole three weeks of it.
Having lived together before the wedding not much has changed.
We are definitely in the honeymoon phase though.
Both of us are being super nice and I love it.

Some picaroos from our trip to the Great Ocean Road
