Nature is cruel.

A good friend of mine is going through some tough times with her pregnancy. The little bundle to be will have a tough time when or if it comes along. Fingers crossed problems are confined to one area. I just want to hug her and make it all better.

Sushi and then some

So, I had a really short week this week at work as my ADO fell on Friday . Yay 3 day week!

I decided to go and see a movie on my own on Friday afternoon because that was something that I wouldn't usually do and also M wouldn't come and see Snow White and the Huntsmen. I, however got the time wrong and seeming I drove to the cinema decided to see What to Expect when you are expecting. I would see it if you were with your girlfriends and you want an easy movie to watch. It wasn't the best chick flick I have ever seen though.

On Saturday I went to my Aunties place to work on some DIY wedding tasks.  I may have mentioned before but her room is roof to floor craft items. Everything you would ever need is somewhere there . You just have to find it. Our goal was to make unity candles. I was going to order them professionally done.... However the store wanted $167 for them and I could think of better places to spend that money.

Happy with our effort. For a total of about $20
Following this my cousin who lives there asked me to go to the movies with him to see Brave. This wasn't the best Pixar animated movie I have ever seen however it does have some laugh out loud moments with Billy Connelly voicing the King. We also had a pre movie sushi train run...... I believe this sushi had kiwi fruit sauce on top of it... very interesting.

Kiwi Sushi
My Sunday has been very boring. I took advantage of the sunshine and did some much needed washing. I find joy in these things these days it's sad.

Hope you had a good weekend too.

Step back

This weekend I had the luxury of stepping back, taking a look and realising how much I really do love M. Also how much I want to be with him for the rest of our lives. In all the whirlwind of wedding planning I think I have been lapse in my appreciation of this fact.

Wedding spending spree.

So, I have been shopping....... for the wedding of course. I had been waiting for a little while to buy things in one go..... I have been coming home to packages everyday.... It is a little bit addictive.

Etsy
I have two flower girls and I thought this would be a cute headband for each of them.

Etsy
Another ETSY purchase was my bridesmaids gifts. I also got one for mum since she will be staying   with us the night before.
Etsy
Breaking a little bit of tradition. Both of my flower girls will be going down the aisle carrying a ring plate each. They will be wearing a flower corsage.
Etsy
This is the cover of our guest book. Of course the letters will be K & M and the verse reads ' Today I will marry my best friend, the one I laugh with, live for, dream with,  and love.' Nawwww my sentiments exactly.

As an idea for favours we had the bright idea to make  home made fudge ..... the outcome of that is to be determined so stay tuned!

Oh and I also pretty much booked my florist. One of my workmates used this lady for their wedding and her work is amazing AND affordable (even though DIY would have been even better)

Decisions and DIY disasters :D

So, it has been a while since I have posted. A little bit has happened since then on the wedding front.
We had a meeting with our venue for our 'let's pay for half of the reception now' meeting. In exchange for the bit of coin we got lots and lots of seating charts and a cake voucher as our cake is included in our package.  Our cake is coming from 2bites. Her style is a little bit different from what I was looking at but apparently she is easy to talk with.

We also organised our food and wine tasting night for next month! This will be the my favourite part of the whole planning experience I think. Mum and M's parents are coming so that will be an interesting night. A bonus is that the cake lady will have samples for us to try.

I also had a go at flower arranging today. My grand ideas to make my own bouquets have been quashed. :( I got up at 5 this morning and ventured into the dark... I honestly thought the sun would be up a little bit by that stage. That just shows how often I am up that early. So I ventured out to Flemington markets. Apparently 5:30 is late to get there. I had to go around a few times to find a parking spot.

I bought 8 bunches of flowers costing me around $56 which was more than I thought (only because I heard murmurs of $4 a bunch) but very reasonable.

This makes me want to try again. Especially because I really like the red roses for me. ....Decisions Decisions. If we go with the D.I.Y option and it doesn't work out I will be one stressed bee....any who, that's what I have been up to.

Nerdfest

So, I'm marrying a self confessed nerd. He is most comfortable watching a Lord of the Rings movie, researching different swords used in medieval times, playing computer games for hours on end.

This weekend he dragged me to nerd.. uh I mean Ironfest in Lithgow. We drove 2 hours to this festival that was full of enthused men, women and children dressed in period costume. Period costume or Star wars costumes or Dr Who costumes. I found it all fascinating. I have to say after 2 hours of walking around I got a bit tired ( a bit bored) so I found some chocolate Dutch pancakes and took a seat in the stands while M went and looked around.

I can't get any photos off my phone at the moment. We watched some jousting, some falconing, some 19th century cannon fighting.

The highlight of the day was the food ( for me anyway). 2 hours from Sydney was a stand that comes to my work every Tuesday. The Mexican wrap stand. I had to show M the wonders of the Mexican wrap. Where I work the food is baaad. Hospital cafeteria bad. With only half an hour for lunch , getting down the street and being able to eat anything is a struggle. So when Tuesday comes around we embrace the closeness and yumminess that is the Mexican wrap.

Some other exciting news. Babyfest has hit work. We have three pregnant ladies at work now. The last announcing her pregnancy last week. She was my housemate I just moved away from. It was very unexpected but very exciting at the same time. She bought in her ultrasound today and there is a teeny tiny baby in there. This baby fever has crossed over to me and it's a bit scary. M and I probably won't have kids for a little while yet. Especially when we don't have anywhere for it to be kept yet. However the idea is very appealing and my inner cluckiness has come out. I need a kid to babysit...STAT... so that I can get a dose of reality to fight this condition. . . . . .

It's coming together!!

So, Even thought there is so many things still do in the 7 months(yesterday) to the wedding I have managed to tick a few things off

  1. Dress bought
  2. Cars Booked
  3. Photographer booked
  4. Bought our cake topper
  5. Chosen ( but not ordered) bridesmaids dresses
  6. Chosen Flower girl dresses
  7. Booked hair and make up
  8. Booked night before accommodation.
  9. Reception booked
  10. Booked Church and started planning the ceremony
I want to have one of those 'bride' moments where I step back and appreciate it all and get very excited. There are moments but I can't wait until I have my dress, have my hair and make up trial and soak it all in .

Most of all . I am excited to be married. I have to keep coming back to that fact. I am marrying my best friend , the best man in my life and the future daddy of my babies. That is definitely something to look forward to.
